What's up kids! Help me customize my Trans Red Delli!

Nothing fancy, really. I just want to make a complete change of pick ups on my Dellinger.

I bought it from Xykhron on here and I love it but I am going to restring and readjust it so I thought I may as well throw in some cash and get it closer to my liking.

It currently has a painkiller (uncovered and non f-spaced) in the bridge and regular Dellinger setup in the neck.

I am thinking of silky, liguid tones with a lot of sustain towards the neck and a motherf%6ing screaming, but tight rythm pickup for metal on the bridge.
The middle pickup should be balanced and hae a nice single coil tone to provide interesting combinations.

I am open for all suggestions.

I play Arch Enemy, Threat Signal, Soilwork, Meshuggah, Armaggeddon and similar stuff. Let me hear what you think.

I am even open to combine brands, just don't think I'll go for actives.

    Thanks a lot in advance!!

Monchito, don't you mean that you won't go for actives?
In mean, there aren't many single coil sized active p'ups out there other than EMG. I might be wrong though

Cheers, and congrats on the new axe!!

I guess you can always go for a try and tested SD JB+Quarter Pound+Hot rails configuration. Other SD options for the Bridge could be the Screamin' Demon or Custom 5. Dimarzio-wise I would suggest Tone Zone+Area+Air Norton S.

There's a lot of people here who know quite a bit about Dimarzios and Bare Knuckles. So hopefully they can provide more insightful guidance.

    Cheers

Yes! I was totally thinking the Georgy Lynch Screaming Demon would be a good choice. Tone Zone is an option I wasn't even thinking about since I don't really have experience with Dimarzio Humbuckers. The only Dimarzios I have had the chance to try for longer were a Liquifire and Crunchlab and I liked them a lot. The only Dimarzio humbucker I currently have is a Chopper T in my Kotzen Tele, but this is something I don't really see in the Capa unless it's at the center position for a really weird and personal config. Now that I think about it, this could be an interesting experiment. The Twang King on the neck sounds awesome but I can't really imagine it having that nice effect in the thick mahagony body of my Dellinger.

The Seymour Duncan combo you suggested first seems to be very fitting and I am a big fan of Duncans. I have them in my Horizon and my Les Paul and they are the closest to the idea I have of good tone.

However I don't have a concrete idea of how any of these options would sound. Do you know of any players I could look up that have these pick ups in their mahagony guitars? Listening to them would be very helpful.

I didn't know of the Custom 5s existence. I am defenetely going to look that one up.

Thanks a lot! I hope you are right and some of the people into the other brands can come and comment

Since you like Arch Enemy, why don't you take a look to what Chris Ammot has/had in his Dellis? IIRC he had SDs in his older signature model (he started using the PHR but changed to a SD Screamin Demon in the bridge) but has chosen Dimarzios for his new axe. Personally Chris (and Michael!!) are two of my favorite players and love their tone. If I had a HSS Dellinger, I would most definitely check Chris' set up, you can't go wrong. Cheers

Hi Capelo! I know exactly what you mean, man... the tone is amazing. I was thinking of emailing him over facebook. I know what he had in the older CA models and recently checked the new setup he got from Dimarzio. My main cocnern is what the differences would be since the prices are pretty similar, the Duncans being a bit more expensive. But soundwise I can't imagine him having settled for somethign all that different. I love the tone I have seen him with live the few times I have seen them on tour. But given the fact that many pros record with different gear in studio than what they carry live I could imagine he is no exception.

The Dimarzios look really interesting but that Screaming Demon really caught my attention when I tried it in a Les Paul. But then again, a fixed bridge with a heavy piece of mahagony behind it doesn't sound that close to my delli. At least my Deli doesn't sound any close to my Les Paul. They are both very good, just very different... even when the materials are similar.

If you guys were to go with anything apart from Dimarzio or Duncan, what would you put in there to get a heavy crunch (crazy but controllable) and more softness and liquidity towards the neck?

Thanks for the answer, Cap! Though this thread was dying

Hey Monchito, I'm new to the forum here and trying to find/buy a Delli II so I can't speak directly for the guitar. But I assume it has walnut and bolt on? I have an Ibanez PGM301 with basswood and maple bolt on neck and its a very bright guitar, real trebly. I installed a set of BKP Holy Divers in it and it made a huge difference. I love the sound. Dropped down to Dflat standard tuning with some heavy gauge strings and it really beefed it up. It's a little metal machine.

I have a painkiller (B) and Nailbomb (N) setup in a mahogany neck thru Carvin DC127 and it is really good. The nailbomb in the neck is perfect for soloing and hearing the pic attack and all that. Bell like notes sound amazing.

    Hope that helps.
